Macallan Classic Cut 2023 is a limited-edition Speyside single malt Scotch whisky from The Macallan, released in 2023 as part of the annual Classic Cut series that highlights the distillery’s mastery of cask selection and flavour balance while preserving its signature profile. Bottled non-age-statement at a robust 50.3% ABV, this release was crafted by marrying spirit matured in a thoughtfully selected combination of ex-bourbon American oak casks and European oak casks seasoned with Oloroso sherry, offering a bridge between bright orchard fruit character and deeper, warmer oak-driven notes. At full strength the nose reveals elegant aromas of fresh pear, elderflower and rich vanilla, leading into a palate where sweet creamy vanilla, juicy pears and a touch of lemon peel are supported by delicate oak, and a medium finish carries whispers of almond biscotti, a flavour that becomes even more pronounced with just a little water added, unlocking additional layers of complexity and making this expression both approachably rich and distinctly collectible.
