Macallan Classic Cut 2022 is the sixth annual release in The Macallan’s Classic Cut series, a limited-edition Speyside single malt Scotch whisky first launched in 2017 to showcase bold cask character and elevated strength compared to the distillery’s core range. Released in 2022 and bottled at 52.5 % ABV, this non-age-statement expression was matured in a distinctive marriage of ex-bourbon and sherry-seasoned oak casks, bringing together the bright, creamy vanilla and orchard fruit notes from American oak with the richer dried fruit and spice influence of European oak. On the nose it reveals a fresh fruit medley of grapefruit, peach, apple and citrus with hints of vanilla sponge and light spice, while the palate balances lively fruit-forward flavours with caramel, chocolate and gentle oak spice before a sweet, creamy finish with warming spice, a profile that reflects both the careful cask selection and The Macallan’s signature Speyside elegance at higher strength.
